This compact industrial USB keyboard is built for a long life. Mechanical key switches with Gold Cross Point Contacts are rated at 50 million operations per key, and are expected to last over a decade even at frequent use.
A gold crosspoint contact is made of two narrow gold-alloy or gold-plated members, arranged crosswise. Contact is guaranteed, quickly in a single point, with short bounce times, low contact resistance and very little grinding. The concept has been known since the early days of electromechanical engineering, and its excellent as a switch technology has been proved over years.
For health environments, industrial use and transport applications - such as rail, marine, and air traffic control - this keyboard is an incredibly sound choice, enabling data input in wet, cold, hot or dark rooms. Though the keyboard has a compact design, weighing around 940g, it has full size keys like those found on a desktop, making it comfortable for prolonged use. The tactile switches have excellent actuation - the distance each key has to travel before it makes an electrical contact - at 4 +/- 0.5 mm.
The black keycaps with backlit legends – each key is lighted by a separate LED - have an eight level brightness control. The keys are red, using a low current, whilst the LED status indicators - for the Caps Lock - are green.
